Update Email Password

If you have received a notification to change or update your password -- like an expiration notice for example -- please follow the steps below.

 

Change Password on or off Campus

The two procedures differ slightly.

On-Campus

Change password using any campus PC:

  1. Log in to any campus PC using your email credentials
  2. Once logged in, press CTRL+ALT+DEL
  3. Choose Change a password
  4. Enter your current email password in the Old password field
  5. Create a memorable new password using the following criteria:
    • minimum 8 characters;
    • UPPERCASE and lowercase letters;
    • At least 1 digit (0-9);
    • At least one symbol, such as (!@#$%^&*-_=+)
  6. Retype the new password in the Confirm password field
  7. You will get a notification message if the change is successful

*Note: use the newly created password for your email, campus computers, and Wi-Fi.

 

Off-Campus

Reset Password Using Outlook Web Access:

  1. Open a new Private or Incognito window or tab
  2. Sign in to your GCCCD email through the web at outlook.office.com
  3. Once signed in, look for a circle with your initials or avatar in the upper right-hand corner
  4. Click on the circle and a drop-down menu will appear
  5. Click on View account

*Note: You may be prompted for Multi-factor Authentication at this point. You may possibly receive a text message, or you must use the Microsoft Authenticator app in order to proceed.

 

  1. Click on Password to change your password

  2. Create a memorable new password using the following criteria:
    • minimum 8 characters;
    • UPPERCASE and lowercase letters;
    • At least 1 digit (0-9);
    • At least one symbol, such as (!@#$%^&*-_=+,.)
  3. If your new password is accepted you will receive no notification
  4. Verify that the new password is working -- sign out of Outlook and then sign back in with the new password

*Note: Use the newly created password for your email, campus computers, and Wi-Fi.
