Aspect ratio

All slides must in 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. These can be in Landscape or Portrait Format:

*Note: There are separate playlists for portrait displays (PVAC) and landscape (everywhere else)

File format

Slides must be in the correct format: .JPG, .PNG, .PPTX (powerpoint), .PDF, or .MP4 (video).

Resolution (image size)

Slides should be designed at a 4K resolution (3840x2160) with a DPI of 72. Templates are provided with this preset. You cannot add a slide that is not in a 1080p or 4k format.

Audio

Sound from slideshows or movies is not permitted.

*Note: There may be exceptions for department specific displays or specific displays during special events

Accessibility

Captions must be present on any public facing slide containing audio or speech. It is a best practice and an accessibility requirement.

Reach players do not play separate caption/subtitle files. Captions must be burned-in for any such content.

Scheduling

Slides must have a defined start and end date. For events, slides may run up to 1 month before the event start and will stop on the event end date.

Readability

Some slide best practices:

  • Slides should be easy to read; limit text and use a large font
  • Colors and fonts should be kept "simple" for readability's sake
  • Slides must include relevant details; dates, times, locations, QR code, etc.
  • For more information, see this Guide for Best Practices of Design
