Learn about your rights and responsibilities in the Open Computer Lab.
Purpose
The Open Computer Lab is intended to be a study area for students to complete their course work. The Lab is not intended for tutoring, group work, or instruction; students are expected to work on an individual basis except within designated areas. Please be courteous when you enter and exit the lab, and do not disturb other students at their workstations.

Lab computers may be monitored for appropriate usage.
All students must follow district guidelines for computer use, outlined in Administrative Procedure 3720, available here.
The Lab is a study environment and is not meant for children. Children under age 14 may not use lab computers. Additionally, children may not be left in the care of lab staff, and may not be unsupervised at any time.
Board Policy 3840 (here) details district policies regarding children on campus.
All lab users must comply with all applicable copyright laws.
Copying computer software is strictly prohibited. The use of P2P file sharing systems and/or cryptocurrency mining is not allowed on the college's network.
Please be courteous to others entering and using the lab.
Please remember to log off, clean up your area, and push in your chair when leaving.
You may use your own headphones for sound. If you require headphones you may check them out in the Library. Bluetooth headphones or earbuds are not currently supported.
Most workstations have USB 3.1A and A/C charging capabilities for students that bring their own devices.
Lab staff cannot be responsible for your personal property. Please keep all personal property with you at all times, including, phones, wallets, and purses.
Misplaced property that is turned in by a student/staff member may be found at the Lost at Found at the Information Desk for a short period of time.
All lost items are periodically turned in to the Campus and Parking Services office.
The computers in the Open Computer Lab are installed with a predetermined suite of drivers, software, and settings. The installation and use of personal software is not allowed.
If you require a particular piece of software to complete coursework, please speak with a staff member.
Lab computers are reset to initial settings each boot.
This means there is no permanent storage on computers apart from what you bring with you.
Students are however able to utilize Microsoft's OneDrive with Office and their student account. Find out more information on Office and OneDrive here.
Students are otherwise advised to purchase and utilize a USB flash drive.
Remember to save early, and save often!
The Open Computer Lab is an area where students may complete their coursework and casually use computers.
Please do not disturb other students with your behavior, including cell phone usage.
Students that require a more restrictive study environment are encouraged to make use of the study carrels, Zoom Booths, or Group Study Rooms in the Library.
