The Process
- June Yang and Desmond Morente completed a final draft of the resolution to submit
to Grossmont College's Academic Senate.
- Grossmont College Academic Senate passed the resolution on March 1, 2021.
- June, Desmond and Daniela Sow co-presented and the American Federation of Teachers
(AFT) Guild, Local 1931, which represents faculty and staff throught San Diego County,
voted and unanimously passed our API Committee's Solidarity Statement to stand against
Anti-Asian Racism and violence, on March 4, 2021.
- Bryan Lam presented the API resolution to Grossmont College's Classified Senate and
it was voted and unanimously passed it on March 5, 2021.
- Both the Academic and Classified Senates presented the resolution at the March 16,
2021 Governing Board Meeting.

Denise Schulmeyer (Academic Senate) and Cindy Emerson (Classified Senate) read our
Resolutions out loud. We appreciate their allyship.

Desmond submitted a Public Comment, which was also read at this meeting.
- On March 18, 2021, Chancellor Lynn Nuault sent a message of support and solidarity
with the Asian American Pacific Islander Community to the District.
- The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District, in a unanimous vote, adopted the
resolution comdemning violence against the Asian American Pacific Islander Community.
- The Classified Senate will send the resolution to the California Community College
Classified Senate (4CS).
