Academic Senate

 
The Academic Senate, representing the faculty of Grossmont College, consults collegially with both the college administration and the Governing Board (in line with AB1725) to reach mutual agreement on the development of policies and procedures related to academic and professional matters.

 
Constitution and Bylaws

 

What are academic and professional matters?

  1. Curriculum, including established prerequisites and placing courses within disciplines;
  2. Degree and certificate requirements;
  3. Grading policies;
  4. Educational program development;
  5. Standards or policies regarding student preparation and success;
  6. District and College governance structures as related to faculty roles;
  7. Faculty roles and involvement in the accreditation process, including the College's self-study and other annual reports;
  8. Policies for faculty professional development activities;
  9. Processes for program review;
  10. Processes for institutional planning and budget development; and
  11. Other academic and professional matters as mutually agreed upon between the Governing Board and Academic Senate.

 


Meeting Information

Due to the closure of the Griffin Gate, we will continue to provide HyFlex if available.  We will make a note next to the meeting if there is a HyFlex option to join via Zoom. 

All meetings run from 11:00 am -12:20pm.  

 


Teleconferencing

The Academic Senate voted to provide teleconferencing for Senators using AB 2449 guidelines.Please note that not all meetings may have HyFlex available for teleconferencing.  For Senators who would like to make this request, you can fill out the form HERE.  If possible, please submit your request no later than 5pm on the Wednesday prior to the Senate meeting.      

 

Senators with teleconference approval or any guests who would like to join via Zoom can use the link below to access the meeting.  For security reasons, we will continue to verify all attendees using the college staff directory.  If you are not in our directory, please contact Rie Hazel at rie.hazel@gcccd.edu to ensure access to the meeting.
