Petition of Loss of Enrollment Priority Status
Students may petition the loss of their enrollment priority based on one of the following criteria:
Student who have experienced extenuating circumstances (verified cases of accident, illnesses or other circumstances beyond the student's control that affected their academic performance in the previous semester.)
Students who have made significant academic improvement where they meet the minimum grade point average and/or progress standard to be removed from academic or progress probation.
Students who have exceeded 90 units of degree-applicable coursework at GCCCD and enrolled in a high unit major
Students with disabilities who applied for, but did not receive reasonable accommodations in a timely manner.
Students who have other specific situations that warrant considerations (e.g. Last term in GCCCD and needs a specific course to graduate or transfer.)

To withdraw from a course after the drop deadline.
Relevant supporting documentation must be attached
Petitions for a late withdrawal of a course will be considered if students can document an unanticipated personal or family hardship that affected their performance in a course. Late Withdrawals are only allowed under extenuating circumstances with proper documentation. It is the student’s responsibility to attach all relevant documentation to the petition.
Requesting a Late Withdrawal with Refund and No “W,” is only allowed under extenuating circumstances with proper documentation.
To withdrawal from a never attended course.
A verification or letter of non-attendance from the instructor or Department Chair.
Student’s petition should include a detailed statement describing hardship they experienced that prevented them from participating and their inability to drop the course before the drop deadline. Also, the petition must include a verification or letter of non-attendance from the instructor or Department Chair.
Any petition submitted without proper documentation from the instructor or the Department Chair will be considered incomplete.
To repeat a course in which a grade of "C" or higher was earned or a course in which three substandard enrollments (D, F, NP, W) were earned. Student must demonstrate the necessity to retake a course in excess of the allowable limit of repeats.
Relevant documentation supporting the extenuating circumstance in which a repeat is necessary.
Request for additional repeats are considered on a case-by-case basis. Title V mandates that repeats may be granted under specific guidelines. Students must submit their petition with appropriate documentation for their request submitting a petition with requested documentation does not guarantee approval.

If a student lost eligibility due to not meeting the 12 unit or minimum 2.0 GPA requirement, please provide a detailed statement explaining the extenuating circumstances endured that led to ineligibility.

The petition must include an outlined specific request in which any necessary evidence is attached. The petitions committee will review each request and decide if any action can be taken.

An instructor statement indicating their support to add the student and first day attendance. If applicable documentation of the student’s hardship in adding courses.
The instructor's approval is always required to late add a course, a student must obtain an add authorization from the instructor prior to petition submission. Instructors can authorize students via Self-Service.
This form is used by students who, after having been academically disqualified from the college and wish to re-enroll with Grossmont.

In addition to completing this form, students are encouraged to attend a Back on Track Workshop or meet with a counselor to create an educational plan. In the statement students must describe the circumstances surrounding the dismissal, and the plan for their educational improvement.
